Abstract

The main objective of this research was to identify the level of job satisfaction for researchers working at the Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research (CLAR) affiliated with Agriculture Research Center. In addition, the relationships between the level of researchers’ job satisfaction and some key explanatory variables were explored.

A total number of 73 out of 103 researchers working at CLAR were surveyed to obtain the necessary data during the period from July to August 2008. Quantitative methods were used for data analysis. Results showed that job satisfaction levels regarding monetary compensation, work environment, relationships between researchers and their managers, work resources, appreciation and recognitions were estimated at 1.22, 1.02, 1.35, 1.09, and 1.41, respectively. These estimates are in the range of average job satisfaction. In addition, the results indicated that education level, work year, training, awareness level of aquaculture extension, family size, and monetary compensation were statistically significant and positively correlated with average degrees of job satisfaction.
